About Me

 

My Philosophy as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist

As a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with the National High School Strength and Conditioning Association (NHSSCA) and a former Division I athlete, my coaching approach focuses on building both physical strength and mental resilience. I believe that true strength is not only about lifting more weights—it’s about overcoming life’s challenges with mental toughness and determination. My additional certifications as an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist further enable me to apply scientifically backed methods to help athletes of all levels reach their potential.

A Journey of Overcoming Challenges

Born with Hirschsprung’s disease, I spent my early life fighting for survival. My doctors were uncertain about my future, but my parents taught me to face challenges head-on. Sports became my outlet for resilience, and despite being told I wasn’t "big enough" to play college sports, I pushed myself to prove that size doesn’t define strength.

Turning Setbacks into Strength

My journey hasn’t been without setbacks. In high school, I tore my MCL in a state tournament. The road to recovery was tough, but it taught me that strength is built not only physically but mentally. When I returned to play, I had a new mindset, focused on persistence and resilience, not perfection.

The Importance of Strength and Conditioning

At Murray State University, I realized the importance of strength and conditioning in performance, both in sports and life. My father, an avid fitness enthusiast, taught me how physical fitness builds mental toughness—a lesson that became even more meaningful when he faced cancer in 2019. His physical conditioning helped him endure demanding treatments and reinforced the value of strength beyond sport.
